Today I wrote up cat profiles and small animal profiles for the adoption section of our website. I also posted thank you’s on Facebook and Twitter for items donated over the weekend, posted adoption alerts on Facebook for the animals that would be available this weekend, and I cut out flyers and made packets to hand out for the Tailwagger’s Trot fundraiser.
Here is an example of one of the cat profiles I wrote (picture was not taken by me):

Janie is sure to make your heart melt the instant her bright, glimmering green eyes meet yours. This beautiful young lady is a 2 year-old domestic shorthair who was found as a stray in Lancaster. Despite having been left to fend for herself all alone, Janie continues to keep her spirits high and her heart open. Stroke her soft fur and give her a lap to snuggle in, and she will love you for the rest of her days! Janie is ready to be a part of a family again in a home that she can finally call her own, could you be Janie’s new forever family?

Today I met the second intern that will be working at the Humane League this semester also, Adam, and I spent a good portion of the first day giving him a tour, sharing the log-in information for our websites and social media with him, and helping him to get settled and organized. I then worked on advertising the animals that will be available for adoption this weekend on Facebook, wrote up short event promoters to also go through our Facebook and Twitter feed as well as e-mail blasts, and ended the day uploading photos to albums in our system and then to our Facebook page.

Today was the first day of my internship! I spent most of my time today meeting my co-workers, getting a tour, getting set up  at my desk, receiving log-in information for all of our websites and social media sites, and familiarizing myself with those sites. By the end of the day I was creating Facebook posts and twitter posts, uploading photo albums, and beginning to write animal profiles for our adoption page! All of my co-workers were very warm and welcoming, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone and all the adorable animals this semester!……as long as I can restrain myself from taking them all home with me!
